Ya Ya's Old Shoe

First published in 1794, “There was an Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe,” is a British Nursery Rhyme that tells of a single old woman who did her best to care for her offspring. Rather than think about the implications of the poem (poverty, inequality), it’s better to focus on how much fun it would be for a bunch of kids to live together in a giant shoe. A friend has five children and seventeen grandchildren and, if she had her way, they'd all live together in one giant perfectly decorated shoe, wearing matching outfits!
